Overhead Door Latchguard Latchguard is a unique concept in overhead door protection. The ferrous door latch shunts the magnetic field between the reed switch and the Alnico magnet, causing the contact circuit to close. Only when the latch is secured will the alarm circuit close allowing the alarm system to be armed. The Latchguard is difficult to defeat since adding a second foreign magnet will cause an alarm.
